Herman and Jean Swartz Scholarship in Nursing

Herman and Jean Swartz Scholarship in Nursing

This scholarship was established by J. Herman and Jean Kay Swartz at the Eastern Washington University Foundation. Herman served in the military during WWII as chief of laboratories for a 500-bed hospital, a mobile unit for wounded GIs. He recalled his most enduring memory during that time, as the 53 nurses who worked without complaint under mostly intolerable conditions. This nursing scholarship is a tribute to them. Herman and Jean felt that any student who wants an education should get that chance, and that the rest of us should help.
