St. Luke's Hospital Nursing Alumnae Association Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established by members of the St. Luke’s Hospital Nursing Alumnae Association. The St. Luke’s School of Nursing offered two courses of study. The first was a three-year program, which included three years of theory and practice at St. Luke’s and basic sciences courses through an extension of Washington State College (WSC) in Spokane. The second was a degree program, with two years of college at WSC, followed by 2 years of clinical experience at St. Luke’s. Upon completion the nurse would receive a BS from WSC. The first class to graduate from St. Luke’s School of Nursing was in 1901. The St. Luke’s Nursing Alumnae Association was established shortly thereafter. The St. Luke’s School of Nursing graduated their last class in 1966 and an annual scholarship was established in 1988. The association officially disbanded in 2001 and an endowed fund was established with the remaining treasury funds.
