Judith Steward Memorial Scholarship

Judith Steward Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Judith Steward who died of a brain aneurysm in the spring of 1993 at the UW Medical Center, where she was a registered nurse. Judy obtained her Associate in Science for Nursing degree from Yakima Valley Community College and later her BSN from the Intercollegiate Center for Nursing Education in 1998. While in the nursing program, Judy was the recipient of the Hilda Roberts Scholarship, was editor for the school newspaper PAINS, and was an active member of Delta Chi Chapter-at-Large, Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. Throughout her career, Judy displayed a strong dedication to make nursing not just her job, but also an intricate part of her life. She is remembered for her inquisitiveness and constant drive to better educate herself, along with her fellow nurses. Judy strongly believed in the concept of equal opportunity. Family and friends established this scholarship to honor Judy’s dedication and commitment to nursing, in hopes that others may be inspired to a life of service and caring, to provide excellence and leadership to the profession of nursing, and to follow in her footsteps and carry out her dreams.
