Bernice E. Stevens Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the life and memory of Bernice E. Stevens by her niece Kathryn Patjens. Bernice graduated from the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Spokane, Wash. in 1942. She worked in several hospital and community health positions before enrolling in the Sacred Heart Hospital School of Anesthesia. She graduated as a Nurse Anesthetist in 1958 and worked as a nursing anesthetist at Deaconess Hospital until her retirement in 1980. She loved her work and the challenges it brought to her life on a daily basis. Bernice was a warm and caring person, and a dedicated nurse. She died in 1986.
