Patricia Ashford Stec Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by family to honor the memory of Patricia Ashford Stec. Patricia attended the Research Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing in Kansas City, Miss., graduating with a nursing diploma in 1971. She then moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked in the emergency room of Parkland Hospital. Later she accepted a commission in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps, where she met her husband, Paul Stec, an Air Force pharmacist, at Sheppard Air Force Base Hospital. Patricia’s professional nursing career took her across the world and finally to Spokane. She earned a master’s in nursing from the Intercollegiate College of Nursing in 1991. She taught clinical nursing at both the ICN and Spokane Community College Nursing Program. She worked at Holy Family Hospital as a trauma nurse coordinator. Patricia died of complications from polycystic disease in 1995.
