Kasey Skaggs Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Kasey Skaggs, a WSU nursing student who died in a tragic automobile accident witnessed on the Pullman Highway by Martin and Linda Marler, of Colfax, Wash., on June 5, 2009. The Marlers are long-time supporters of WSU and familiar with the critical work nurses do, and aware of the need for more nurses. Martin and Linda funded the scholarship through an inheritance from Martin’s sister, Maria Marler Burrill, and her husband, Henry Burrill. Maria graduated from Washington State College in 1964 with a degree in Music and taught in Troy, ID, Dallas, Oregon and Granite Falls. She met and married Henry Burrill, a logger and woodsman in Granite Falls. Henry died in 1995 and Maria in 2011.
