Dino R. and Dorothy P. Sivo Nursing Education Excellence Scholarship
Dino and Dorothy Sivo established this scholarship to reflect their belief that nurses will play an increasingly important role in the nation’s health care and pays tribute to Dorothy’s late sister, AnnaMarie Jahns Barclay, a career registered nurse. To help pay for her sister’s nursing school tuition, Dorothy worked on the family fruit ranch after graduating from high school, forgoing her own college education. Dino worked as a WSU Cooperative Extension agent for over 35 years. Although she did not have a formal nursing education, Dorothy volunteered through the American Red Cross, assisting nurses who helped disabled World War service men and women, and served on numerous health advisory panels and guilds.
