Acel and Barbara Brown Nursing Scholarship

Acel and Barbara Brown Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established through a gift from Acel and Barbara Brown?’s estate. Acel and Barbara were married in 1942, prior to Acel being deployed in WWII. Following the war, Acel left the Air Force and started working as a heavy equipment mechanic in the Tri-Cities. Acel and Barbara had four sons. During this time, Barbara was diagnosed with breast cancer and eventually became a survivor of 43 years. Through her battle with cancer, she took up a passion for nursing and earned a degree from Columbia Basin College in 1971, practicing until 1983. Barbara passed away in July of 2011, followed by Acel in January 2012. It was their wish to leave a legacy of opportunity for generations to come, so that they might also be given a solid foundation from which to pursue their life?۪s passions.
